Let's talk about Human Trafficking and the journey of one advocate that led to a FIRE and revolution for action
Jessica was the name of a character in a movie that my mom liked. Rose was the name of the person my dad hired to assist my mom exit out of human trafficking in the Philippines and execute the fiancé visa paperwork so my mom could come to the United States. Knight is my dad's name. So much rich history from England where his family originated from. That is the begining of my story...or is it. How did my parents meet? What transformed in their lives that led me to be the women, warrior and advocate I am today?
From being the child of a trafficked survivor, to childhood abuse to becoming a mom; 3 failed marriages and businesses to a sex trafficking recruitment attempt on my life to becoming a chaplain to finding Jesus and healing to finding betrayal in ministry to starting my own ministry to running a national Underground Railroad to leading others in their healing; then back to the trafficker that tried to recruit me still trying to find me to finding my voice and power to becoming a instructor in self defense to being a grandma to leading a global mission to end modern slavery.
WHAT??? This is my life. Quoting my favorite pastor - A life I never knew I wanted. I just wanted to show Jesus how grateful I was for saving my life and bringing healing. Healing is not instant; it is a process and can be hard work but the transformation and rewards are so worth it.
When asked which super hero most resembles my life I share "Katniss Everdeen - from the Hunger Games series." I did not choose this fight; in fact it chose me. The one thing I did choose was to defend my family from the horror of human trafficking. Overcoming suicidal thoughts to protect them and just escape the torture not just from the grooming phase but for every contact attempt there after. So many ask where does your strength come from; so be completely honest it comes from the Lord.
Growing up it was rough, no doubt. I can forgive my parents for not knowing their way. What is hard to forgive is statistics being placed upon me and my children. I was told statistically I would be unable to amount to anything because of the trauma from the abuse, statistically you will repeat the sins of your parents and generational curses. After escaping the grooming phase... after almost ending my life. I found a space and a place that I refuse to be a statistic.
My hope is in my book you will not only find healing and awareness of what human trafficking is like from a child's perspective but it would full a FIRE within you to join the Revolution to end this modern day slavery. Where do we start?? Within the word rEVOLution is the work LOVE. That is where we start... with LOVE.
Join me and my other advocates to find your place in the Revolution
